A small contracting crew handles roofing, siding, and general home repair in a metro area. The owner does estimates, dispatches the crew, handles customer relationships, and works on jobs himself. His phone rang ~80 times a day; about half required real attention; the rest were dispatch coordination he could not delegate to the crew.
The dispatch math: roughly 40 small text-or-call decisions a day, 5 of which actually required the owner's judgment. The remaining 35 were "where is Mike," "did the supplier deliver," "the customer wants to know if we are still coming," "what time should we be there tomorrow." The owner was the bottleneck because he was the only one with the full picture.
What changed
The owner pointed his business number to Ajeris and added each crew member as a contact. The agent now answers customer calls, dispatches simple coordination questions to crew members directly, and escalates only the calls that need owner judgment. The owner went from 40 dispatch decisions a day to about 5.
The agent reads the customer-side calendar, the crew availability, the supplier-delivery confirmations (the owner's email is wired through OAuth). When a customer calls asking "are you still coming today?", the agent confirms from the crew's last status update without bothering the owner.
What the agent does on a typical dispatch question
Crew member texts: "where am I tomorrow?" The agent replies within 4 seconds with the next-day schedule, the address, the customer's name, and the materials list. The owner sees nothing; the dispatch was handled.
A customer calls at 11am: "where are you guys, I expected you at 10." The agent checks the crew's status, sees Mike is running 30 minutes late, replies in the owner's voice: "Mike's running about 30 minutes late from a supplier pickup, we'll be at your place by 11:30. Sorry about that; he'll text you on the way." The customer is satisfied; the owner is on the roof.
Estimates the same day
The owner used to send estimates the night after the visit, often the next day, sometimes after the customer had already heard from another contractor. With the agent, the workflow changed: at the end of each estimate visit, the owner sends a 30-second voice memo describing the scope. The agent transcribes it, formats the estimate using the firm's pricing template, sends it to the customer with a one-click "Approve" button (Stripe-wired for the deposit), and texts the customer that the estimate is ready.
Same-day-estimate rate went from 55% to 92%. Conversion on same-day estimates is meaningfully higher than next-day; the math works out to real money.
Why this works for contractors specifically
Contractor inbound is high-volume, mostly coordination, and the owner is the bottleneck because he knows the full picture. The agent removes the bottleneck without removing the owner from the loop on the calls that actually need him. The crew gets coordinated, the customers get answered, the estimates go out same-day; the owner does the work he is uniquely good at.
Try the same setup
Free to start. Text +1 (470) 821 4265. The 5-minute wizard provisions a number; you can wire your crew, your calendar, and your email through the OAuth flow. The test is one full work day with the agent doing the dispatch; the owner usually decides by lunch.
